Our own yard in Jefferson, Georgia.
Dowell Express keeps a private yard at our Jefferson terminal. It is where our tractors and trailers sit between runs, get looked over and get staged for the next load — so equipment is ready before a driver ever shows up for it.
Our Jefferson yard is a private facility for our own fleet — we do not rent trailer space or storage here. Yard management for customers is delivered on-site, at your facility.
How we run our own lot
Spotting and shuttling
Our yard crew moves trailers between the shop, the loading area and parking, so a tractor is never sitting idle waiting on the equipment it needs.
Yard checks
Regular walks of the lot: what is here, what is loaded, what is empty, and what needs attention before it goes back out on the road.
Staged ahead of the run
Loaded trailers are pulled up and hooked ready, so a driver starting a shift can roll instead of waiting on the yard.
Controlled access
The lot is not open to the public. Our own drivers and the carriers we are expecting are the only traffic through the gate.
Room for our equipment
Our trailers wait here between loads rather than taking up a dock door or a parking space at somebody else's facility.
Yard and dispatch together
The same office that plans a load knows which trailer is assigned to it and exactly where on the lot it is sitting.
